I have always been passionate about learning and about the ways in which we experience the world. As an educator I have always looked beyond the experience to the meaning. I think that the time has come when we must start thinking about the changes we need to be making so that we begin teaching our students how to live a life and not just how to earn a living.
In an Outline of History, written nearly 100 years ago in 1920, H.G. Wells said that "human history becomes more and more a race between education and catastrophe." I am worried that we're not winning that race. What am I doing about this? I'm speaking to people to inspire them to action; to help them make the changes that we - educators and parents, policy-makers and students, school administrators and community groups - need to make so that we can find the common threads to building a more peaceful, healthy future for our children. If you're worried too then I'm hoping you'll contact me.
